Knowing the difference between a compact temporary and a full-size spare tire is the first step to becoming more familiar with your vehicle.
A compact temporary spare tire is often commonly referred to as a donut. It's a smaller version of your car's regular tires. This scaled-down tire is especially useful in smaller cars because they won't take up too much trunk space nor will they weigh down the back. Once you get a donut on, you'll want to take care not to drive over 55 miles per hour and to have it replaced as soon as possible.
With a full-size spare, you can usually continue to drive as you normally would. Just be sure to rotate it regularly so that your tires all wear in a similar pattern.
