Is the Battery Dead

Car batteries, unfortunately, cannot last forever and often times fail at the most inconvenient times. If you notice that your vehicle’s headlights are dimmer than usual or that your vehicle is starting slower than normal, then the battery may be going bad. Routinely testing the battery in your vehicle will allow you to avoid being surprised by a faulty battery.

Use a Multimeter

A multimeter is a great and essential tool that you will need to use in order to check the battery that is in your vehicle. A multimeter can be used to measure a number of things, but it is commonly used to check the voltage of a vehicle’s battery. When you are measuring the voltage of your vehicle’s battery, you want to make sure that it reads above 12.4 volts. You can use the multimeter to check your vehicle’s battery’s voltage when the vehicle is off or the cranking voltage when you switch the ignition on.
